Other than being a bomb ass gamer and streamer, what do you do?
I am a family man to my wife of 10 years and I have 2 great children. As for work, I am an instructor for a contracting company and teach Army Soldiers how to fly Unmanned Aircraft (Drones)
Wow that's incredible! How did you get into that as a way to make a living? And how long have you been doing it?
I joined the Army back in 2005 and I started to operate the Unmanned Aircraft as a Soldier in 2008. After a while, I became an instructor. After the military opportunity presented itself and I continued to instruct as a contractor.
How did you come to find Screwball?
I was gaming with a few of my friends from church and one of them was part of Screwball. He told me about one of the tournaments and I fell in love with this community.
How long have you been gaming and when did you decide to get into streaming?
Oh boy, I think I got my NES for Christmas of 1991 and I have been playing games ever since. I decided to start streaming because I would get some amazing clips that I wanted to share with my friends but I never recorded my gameplay. Streaming has helped me capture my amazing moments in gaming and gave me a platform to grow and share content with more people than just my friends.
What have been your favorite games over the years?
As a kid, I enjoyed the Super Mario Bros. and Zelda games. I played Wolfenstein and Doom on PC at my grandpa’s house. He also introduced me to GTA: Vice City. Goldeneye 007 for N64 probably was the one that got me into FPS games. My teenage years and young adult life I mainly played Halo and Call of Duty. These days I like to play whatever my friends play…which is mostly Call of Duty: Warzone. I do play Minecraft and Super Smash Bros. with my kids.
What’s the single most challenging thing to you about streaming?
To me, it is figuring the ins and outs of the software. There are many different programs that one can utilize to capture their stream and put it on a platform. Each one is similar and different in their own way. I have difficulty capturing audio of my chat or video and audio going out of sync. There are so many options and I am still learning so that I can provide the best content I can.
Streaming can be really tough on a person mentally and physically - what gets you through those hard times?
The love for the game. I just persevere and know that all the greats started at the bottom and through hard work, time and effort, they were able to make it to the top. At the end of the day, if I didn’t have many viewers, I still got to have fun playing games and that’s what it’s really all about.
What’s the next step for you?
I am going to continue making content and as the money comes in, I will use it to upgrade my setup to be able to provide the highest quality content. My end goal is for the stream to be able to support itself and ultimately, I may make the switch from console to PC. I currently play on the Xbox Series X but stream via a PC through a capture card.
Any advice for anyone who is thinking about trying to stream and build a community?
Don’t give up and always remember why you are doing it. When you get discouraged, notice I said when and not if, pause for a moment and reflect to see if you are still in line with your original dreams or if they became altered along the journey.
Any shout outs you wanna give to anyone?
I’d like to shout out to my wife for supporting me along the way. Big shoutout to Drummer8oy87, by playing with you allowed me to meet the man who introduced me to Screwball and helped me start my streaming hobby. That man is no one other than the legend, Encoming4u. Encoming4u has been an invaluable part of my streaming. He got me started and pointed me in the right direction. Thank you, man. My #1 fan and homie that I have never met, iBattleiToad. We have been gaming together since 2010/11. When I started streaming, he would always be in my chat. Since I’ve made affiliate, he has been a subscriber and has gifted several subscriptions in my chat. Last but not least, I’d like to shout out ArmyofOne417 and screwball gaming. You all have been like a bonus family supporting me in my streaming and giving me a place to call home. I am proud to be part of #TeamScrewball
